comics & zines
highlights of my sequential work, which may or may not have a narrative angle.
千眼千手 (one thousand eyes, one thousand hands)
a 17-page, experimental psychological horror fan-comic/doujinshi that explores one character’s paranoia and guilt, using the bodhisattva guanyin as allegory. it was self-published under a pen-name in 2023.
this was a collaborative project—i worked with one friend “C” to script the comic; another friend “m” created layouts and panel thumbnails; i brought the art to completion, designed the cover, and prepared files for print.
you will look at my cat (2021)
a 26-page, single-color risograph zine, paying tribute to my cat miss cheese. printed through ipsy bipsy studio and, despite the title, initially published in 2022.
expedition backyard
Each day, Mole and Vole venture out into the world to see what they can find in their own backyard. But after an accidental move from the country to the city, Mole and Vole worry that everything will be different.
this graphic novel encourages young readers to learn how to observe and appreciate their natural world, even—and especially—within an urban environment. created in collaboration with science communicator rosemary mosco, out through penguin random house graphic (2022).
ZODIAC!
In 2017 I directed a 40-page art anthology celebrating the Eastern Zodiac and featuring 36 Asian artists from around the world. Each artist contributed an illustration centered around one animal from the zodiac, which the book cycles through three times.
In addition to artist communications, I also created the cover and title art, designed layout, managed pre-orders, promotion, vendor research, fulfillment, and contributor copy distribution.
