bio

Binglin {bing-ling} is an award-winning multidisciplinary creator making work across illustration, design, comics, poetry, science communication, and the endless intersections within. He uses art and writing to explore and express experiences of gender, sexuality, diasporic identity, and disability, and he is especially drawn to visual journalism as a conduit for strange, raw storytelling.

Binglin has worked with Minnesota Public Radio, The National Aquarium, GKIDS, Harmonix, The Nib, Oni Press, and others. His debut graphic novel, Expedition Backyard, is an early readers’ urban science story co-created with science communicator Rosemary Mosco and published through Random House Graphic in 2022. He has been self-publishing comics and zines since he was single-digits years old.

In his personal life, Binglin enjoys gardening, studying handcrafts, and translating Chinese short fiction.
